40 En plus de ceux-ci, il cita le onzième chapitre d’Ésaïe, disant qu’il était sur le point de s’accomplir. Il cita aussi le troisième chapitre des Actes, les vingt-deuxième et vingt-troisième versets, tels qu’ils se trouvent dans notre Nouveau Testament. Il dit que ce prophète était le Christ, mais que le jour n’était pas encore venu où « ceux qui ne voudraient pas entendre sa voix seraient retranchés de parmi le peuple », mais qu’il viendrait bientôt.

40 In addition to these, he quoted the aeleventh chapter of Isaiah, saying that it was about to be fulfilled. He quoted also the third chapter of Acts, twenty-second and twenty-third verses, precisely as they stand in our New Testament. He said that that bprophet was Christ; but the day had not yet come when “they who would not hear his voice should be ccut off from among the people,” but soon would come.
